2021 got too much music. I quit. I actually hate music now.
No, but for real, 2021 has graced us with so much good shit in so many different genres. That's why my dedicated ass sat here and listed down 100 of the best of the year. Somebody has to! But, since we have a 100 here, there won't be a whole lot of writin', but I got links to all of them, so whatever you like here, you got easy access to it. But yeah here we go: 100 of my favorite albums of 2021.
(i'm going to be honest - i'm not the biggest lyrical hip hop person; but man... when Ka puts something out, i shut the fuck up and listen - one of the best to do it)
(i don't think there has been an artist in hip hop this polarized and batshit insane since prime Lil B - hard to just choose one album, but I feel like this is the best intro for anyone who hasn't heard Slitherman)
(a HUGE lost footwork compliation consisting of tracks from the late 00s that takes me back to high school watching wala cam videos for the first time)
(the beethoven of our time showing that they can fucking write some damn good songs; the parts where shit hits the fan are some of the most "what the fuck" moments i have ever had in music)
(one of soundcloud's most unique artists making some of the most surreal rap music i have ever heard - deserving of based in their name - he even has a Lil B collab!!!)
(a look into late 2000s dutch underground club legend and king of bubbling music - a mixture of fast dancehall and techno/house - some of the most dancey music of the year )
(one of the breakthrough artists of the year making one of the most fun and energetically psychedelic plugg/hip hop projects i have heard in a good while)
(one of jersey club's rising stars puts out his best release to date, while being one of the pioneers of bringing the jersey sound into hip hop with the emergence of Newark rapper Bandmanrill)
(an artist you really need to keep your eye on in 2022 - a promising young star from Louisiana bringing back late 2000s swag rap in one of the best things you will hear this year)
(one of the electronic music's most interesting and fun acts putting out one of the best dnb/house albums i have heard in a while - dude is destined to make music for gran turismo; i just feel it)
(if you ever wanted to know how it feels to have your face just fucking vaporized for like 50 minutes straight, boy do i have the album for you - still the best band in extreme music today; fucking hell it literally is the most insane shit lmao)
(the nastiest, most fonkiest metal album you will hear this year. just straight filth with that classic florida death metal feel mixed with crushing doom)
(a powerviolence band that's just 2 bassists and a drummer making a 20 track 10 minute album - it's like this shit was tailored for me lmao - best 10 minutes of music this year)
(quite possibly the greatest jersey club producer ever showing that he is one of the most forward thinking producers on planet earth - there's nothing like this anywhere right now)
(again, one of the biggest influences of the current generation showing who's still king - some of the most heartfelt and insane songs in his library - a young legend)
(on here, i've talked a lot about "oh this is the most insane thing i've heard this year" but THIS..... FUCKING THIS is the most insane thing i have heard this year - Tanzania's 200 BPM+ singeli is music of the future - every time I have listened to this my head legit feels funny, which is the coolest shit ever)
(in many eyes, myself included, one of the GOATS of hip hop surprising us all with a late-in-the-year release that is seriously some of his best work in years, which is saying a WHOLE LOT)
(probably the most breathtaking thing i have heard this year - as a long time sax player who listens to a lot of music using the instrument, this is quite possibly one of the best saxophone albums i have ever heard - making a sax quartet with just yourself is so much harder than you think)
(now seriously, I didn't want put this in 2 separate spots, so we'll just have them both here; if you don't know, dariacore was one of the year's most insane music scene emergences; modern virtuoso zeke showing us what you can do when you bend the limits of music itself; one of the most special things i have ever heard)
(Tisakorean is seriously like if a giant foreign object from space crashed into Houston in the mid 90s like baby Superman - he's here to save us all and get us silly - there's seriously no one else like him on earth; he keeps evolving his sound and getting better and that's fucking scary - Tisa really is the superhero hip hop needs and he's saving us all)
Now 2021 is a wrap! What an absolutely incredible year of music, with so many gems in so many genres. 2022 is seriously looking to be even crazier, so I cannot wait to go through all of this again next year.
